Aibou TV Season 5 Episode 13 - The Tragicomedy of W(Wの悲喜劇)

Subtitle: The Tragicomedy of W(Wの悲喜劇)

Kinji Daimaru(大丸 欣司) is Sergeant Kaoru's next door neighbor. While Ms. Tamaki, Superintendent Kakuta, and Inspector Ukyō are trying out Miwako's new dish "Miwako Special Five" at Sergeant Kaoru's apartment room, Mr. Daimaru comes back from a month long business trip to Hong Kong to find his plus-size wife Reiko dead in the family bathroom. She got stuck in the bathroom seat after the toilet seat broke, and she was unable to get out for weeks. Apparently, no one could hear her screams for help, and she starved to death. Although this looked like an accident, Inspector Ukyō, as usual, finds reasons to believe that her death may not have been purely accidental.

Note: The subtitle for this story is a pun on "The Tragedy of W(Wの悲劇)," a detective story by Natsuki Shizuko(夏樹 静子) which itself was a homage to Ellergy Queen's "The Tragedy of X," "The Tragedy of Y," and "The Tragedy of Z." For this story, the "W" refers to the toilet (as well as the woman).

There are four rules written on the note posted on the Daimaru family bathroom wall.

1) Let's sit quietly on the toilet seat.(便座には静かに腰を下ろしましょう。 Benza ni wa shizuka ni koshi o oroshimashou.)

2) Let's quit running the water before using the restroom. This is a toilet of our home.(用足しの前に水を流すのはやめましょう。ここは家のトイレです。Yōtashi no mae ni mizu o nagasu no wa yamemashou. Koko wa ie no toiredesu.)

3) Let's use the toilet paper at a reasonable rate.(トイレットペーパーは適度に使いましょう。Toirettopēpā wa tekido ni tsukaimashou.)

4) Please cooperate with the non smoking.(禁煙にご協力下さい。Kin'en ni go kyōryoku kudasai.)
