Aibou TV Season 4 Episode 13 - The Last Call/Message(最後の着信)
Subtitle: The Last Call/Message(最後の着信)
One evening, Sergeant Kaoru runs into Kōtarō Waki(脇 幸太郎), a 27 year old man, who gives the sergeant a free pack of cigarettes saying that he's quitting since he's getting married. Before Kōtarō leaves, the man returns to Sergeant Kaoru and tells the sergeant that he won't be able to get married unless he quits smoking. The good-natured man turns out to be a drug dealer who was trying to wash his hands clean from the business so that he could marry a high school classmate. Unfortunately, he turns up dead at the bottom of a set of stairs of a park three days later. Who killed Kōtarō? Was it his drug supplier Ichirō Washizu(鷲頭 一郎), Sadao Hishinuma(菱沼 貞夫) the cop he's been passing information to, or someone else?
Characters appearing/mentioned in the story
Sadao Hishinuma(菱沼 貞夫) - Detective working in the life safety division(生活安全課 seikatsu anzen-ka) at Roppongi Station (六本木署 Roppongi-sho). Detective Hishinuma has received numerous awards for drug seizure including the commissioner's award(警視総監賞 keishisōkan-shō) and the chief award (署長賞 shochō-shō).
He arrested Kōtarō Waki(脇 幸太郎) three years ago. The detective says that Kōtarō Waki(脇 幸太郎) turned himself in carrying stimulants he purchased. He supposedly told the detective that he gave into his desires on a weak moment but got scared before he used them. Since Kōtarō turned himself in, his sentence was suspended, and he hadn't been arrested since.
When Inspector Ukyō asks Detective Hishinuma if he recognizes the phone number registered on Kōtarō's white cellphone, the detective answers that he hasn't seen Kōtarō in three years and doesn't recognize the phone number.
Yumi Shirasaka(白坂 由美) - She was Kōtarō Waki(脇 幸太郎)'s high school classmate back in Osaka and a member of the badminton club. They ran into each other two months ago. Since then, they got together several times including the day he was killed.
On the day Kōtarō Waki(脇 幸太郎) was killed, they got together at a cafe, saw a movie, and ate together at a okonomiyaki restaurant. While there, Kōtarō complained about the quality of the okonomiyaki to the chef,. Kōtarō then took her home in a cab, went to a bar, and then walked to Kichijoji(吉祥寺 Kichijōji) by himself.
She later tells the Tokumeigakari pair that Kōtarō used a red cellphone while they were eating in the okonomiyaki restaurant.
Kōtarō Waki(脇 幸太郎) - The good-natured man who gives Sergeant Kaoru cigarettes after seeing that the sergeant had just run out. Kōtarō had a criminal record however - he had been arrested three years ago for possession of stimulants. Three days after meeting Sergeant Kaoru, he is found dead at the bottom of a set of stairs at a park known to have little foot traffic at night, a perfect place for dealing drugs. Right before he died, he scratched someone and had skin cells lodged underneath his fingernails and died between 10 PM and 12 AM. He had alcohol in his system at the time of his death.
Kōtarō was holding a white cellphone when he died and made his last call at 10 PM. He also had a red and black phone in his possession at the time of his death. He used his red phone for personal calls, black for his business calls (drug deal customers), and the white phone for unknown purposes - only two numbers were registered on that phone, both without names.
He lived in Nishimachi(西町) in Kichijoji(吉祥寺 Kichijōji). His mother lives in Osaka and had left a message on his answering machine, not knowing that her son had been killed.
Ichirō Washizu(鷲頭 一郎) - Kōtarō Waki(脇 幸太郎)'s drug supplier. Kōtarō's registered Ichirō's phone number on one of his cellphones, which allowed the Sōichi to track him down. Superintendent Kakuta's men had also tracked Ichirō down with help from their informants. As a result, the two groups fought over who gets to take Ichirō in. Ichirō realized that it's better to be taken into custody for selling drugs rather than for murder, so he deliberately admitted to selling drugs to Kōtarō so he would be arrested by Superintendent Kakuta's men.
Once in custody, it turns out that Ichirō doesn't have an alibi for the night Kōtarō Waki(脇 幸太郎) was murdered. He also knew that Kōtarō Waki(脇 幸太郎) was a spy for the police, and he reveals that Detective Sadao Hishinuma(菱沼 貞夫) was the one who had told him.
Ichirō eventually reveals where he was shortly before Kōtarō was killed. After finding out that Kōtarō was spying for the police, Ichirō decided to teach Kōtarō a lesson for betraying him. Ichirō was getting ready to beat him up at the park where Kōtarō was killed, but before he could carry it out, Ichirō overheard Kōtarō talking to Detective Hishinuma on the white cellphone. Realizing that he had been set up, Ichirō decided against beating Kōtarō up and left after overhearing that Detective Hishinuma was heading over to the park to talk to Kōtarō.
Ten'in(店員) - The unnamed clerk and chef at the okonomiyaki restaurant. Kōtarō Waki(脇 幸太郎) complained about the quality of the okonomiyaki to him after the clerk warned Kōtarō not to use a cell phone in the store. The clerk tells the Tokumeigakari pair that Kōtarō was using a white cellphone in the restaurant. He lives in Kichijoji(吉祥寺 Kichijōji).
Masutā(マスター) - The unnamed proprietor of a bar where Kōtarō Waki(脇 幸太郎) dropped by before he was killed. The proprietor says that Kōtarō came to the bar by himself, as he always did. Kōtarō got very drunk on the day he died and rambled on about getting married. Yumi Shirasaka(白坂 由美) had told him that she wanted to live together with him, and that had put him in a very good mood.
Haruki Ōkōchi(大河内 春樹) - The Tokumeigakari pair visit General Inspector Ōkōchi to ask about Detective Sadao Hishinuma(菱沼 貞夫). Even though Kōtarō Waki(脇 幸太郎) had caused a traffic accident resulting in property damage, the case was never sent to the prosecutor. Under questioning, Detective Hishinuma had admitted that he didn't send the case to the prosecutor. The Tokumeigakari pair suspect that this is because Kōtarō was a spy for the detective, and the detective was protecting his informant. General Inspector Ōkōchi confesses that he suspects something fishy about Kōtarō 's initial arrest as well.
The General Inspector before General Inspector Ōkōchi had closed his eyes to Detective Sadao Hishinuma(菱沼 貞夫)'s questionable activities because the detective had seized a large quantity of drugs.

Aibou TV Season 4 Episode 12 - Green Murderous Intent(緑の殺意)
Subtitle: Green Murderous Intent(緑の殺意)
During an event showcasing Organic Restaurant Cuisine's amazing vegetable dishes, Toshiomi Kawabata(川端 敏臣), the owner of Nature Food Cuisines, dies after falling down a set of stairs and breaking his neck. He was rushing to get to a bathroom on another floor when the tragedy occurred. His death appears to be an accident but two pieces of flattened boxes were left on top of the stairs, and the bathroom located on the same floor as the event had a "Closed for Cleaning" notice placed outside of it, even though no one was inside. Was Kawabata's death really an accident?
Other characters appearing/mentioned in the story
Haruna Nozaki(野崎 春菜) - She used to be an idol singer, and she now owns a vegetable farm at Hayama(葉山), which was formerly run by her parents until they passed away shortly before she turned 30. Since she was still in the show business at the time, she had considered selling the farm, but decided to take over the farm instead after being told that her parents had taken very good care of the farm and that the land was very fertile.
On the day before the event, she spied Chef Kubodera getting into a heated argument with President Kawabata. She later admits that she regrets telling President Kawabata about Chef Kubodera's Organic Restaurant Cuisine.
Inspector Itami is her fan.
Taichi Kubodera(久保寺 太一) - Chef at Organic Restaurant Cuisine. Their main restaurant is in Hayama(葉山). After President Kawabata's death, he secretly takes the contract his restaurant made with President Kawabata's Nature Food Corporation from the president's briefcase.
He did not use chives in his herb sauce for the event even though Ms. Nozaki recommended them because chives have a strong smell, and it could overpower the smell of the other vegetables.
Toshiomi Kawabata(川端 敏臣) - He was the manager at a talent agency, but he was fired because he had money problems, got into fights, and worst of all started a relationship with a talent he was responsible for, Haruna Nozaki(野崎 春菜).
He then started a company, Nature Food Corporation, which arranged events for popular restaurants trying to open their stores at other locations. He was the director, president, and owner of the company, and he alone was responsible for the company's money and wording of the contracts.
He also had lent several tens of million yen(数千万円 sūsenman'en) to Haruna Nozaki(野崎 春菜)'s farm.
He rushed out an of event showcasing Organic Restaurant Cuisine's delicious vegetables while Chef Kobodera was giving a speech around 2:40 PM. His body was discovered at the bottom of the stairs around 3:15 PM.
He didn't eat soba or noodles that much because he was very allergic to onions.
Itō Asami(伊東 麻美) - Kawabata's secretary who talks to Takagi and Kikuchi about the contract President Kawabata made with them after the president's death.
Takahiro Kuramochi(倉持 隆弘) - Organic Restaurant Cuisine employee who discovered President Kawabata's body. He also provides the recording of the event a staff member had taken to the Tokumeigakari pair.
Takagi(高木) - Chef at a restaurant that lost money as a result of working with Nature Food Corporation.
Kikuchi(菊池) - Owner of the restaurant that lost money as a result of working with President Kawabata. He and Takagi explain to the Tokumeigakari pair that President Kawabata would propose to help popular restaurants open new stores, but leave after getting a lot of money from the events, leaving the restaurants with the debts.
Asami Ito(伊東 麻美) - Moderator for the event at Organic Restaurant Cuisine.
Trivia
Sergeant Kaoru doesn't like hijiki.
Inspector Ukyō doesn't like umbeboshi, sweet and sour pork with pineapples (or at least claims that he doesn't understand why such a dish exists), and truffles harvested after the end of the season. He also eats only certain brands of caviar.

Aibou TV Season 4 Episode 11 - Dirty Mischief(汚れある悪戯)
Subtitle: Dirty Mischief(汚れある悪戯)
An arrogant suspect calling himself Susanō(スサノオ) kidnaps Airi Kinosaki(城崎 愛梨), an employee at the main branch of Aoba Bank(青葉銀行本店), while she is out on lunch break. He then calls her supervisor, demanding they prepare 500 million yen(5億円 5 Oku-en). As proof that he kidnapped her, he leaves behind her cardigan and her company badge near the Seiyō-tei(西洋亭) Restaurant. The suspect doesn't care whether the bills are old or new, doesn't mind involving the police, nor seems to be worried that the police trace his phone calls. He asks that the money be loaded onto a helicopter. How does he plan to get away with the money?
During the first abduction incident, Superintendent Uchimura places the entire Keishichō staff excluding the Tokumeigakari pair on special alert - he seems to be determined to solve this crisis without their help. Can the Superintendent solve this case without the Tokumeigakari pair's help?
Some time after Ms. Kinosaki returns safely, the suspect next kidnaps Tetsuya Hatayama(畑山 哲弥), the youngest son of the Hatayama Zaibatsu. What does the suspect plan to do this time?
Miwako gets assigned to Teito Newspaper's Egypt station. Sergeant Kaoru proposes to her and hands her a half-filled marriage registration form before she leaves, asking her to think about it while she is in Egypt and finish filling out the form if she also wants to get married.
Characters appearing/mentioned in the story
Eri Kinosaki(城崎 愛梨) - 29 year old single employee who works at the main branch of Aoba Bank(青葉銀行本店) general affairs department. Her coworkers describe her as orderly, serious, and pedantic. She was the only-child when she lived with her family in Aomori(青森) though her parents have already passed away. She loves to read history books.
She was kidnapped while she was out of the office for lunch. After she is rescued, she says that she doesn't know anything about the kidnapper. She was grabbed from behind while walking a narrow alley, a shortcut to the local restaurant, and passed out when the kidnapper pressed a cloth soaked in some chemicals. When she regained her consciousness, she realized that she was tied, her eyes blindfolded, and her ears covered by a headphone playing Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. Her feet were free, but she was handcuffed, although the kidnapper cared enough to wrap some kind of cloth around her wrists first so that the handcuffs won't leave any marks on her wrists. She was surrounded by concrete, and it was cold but some source of heat was left in front of her to keep her warm. When she was found by the Tokumeigakari pair later, she only had her wallet and her glasses with her.

When she was found by the Tokumeigakari pair later, she only had her wallet and her glasses with her.
Later, Inspector Ukyō notices a few troubling details about Ms. Kinosaki's kidnapping incident. Before Ms. Kinosaki left for lunch that day, she took off her fashionable glasses and wore her older unfashionable glasses. The Inspector suspected that she deliberately switched her glasses, knowing that her glasses may break in the following incident. Inspector Ukyō also notices that her bathtub is dry. This is odd since he expected her to take a shower immediately after returning home if she really had gone through the kidnapping ordeal.

The kidnapper told the family that he will pick up the money next day at 11 AM. However, when the money is delivered, the police discover that Tetsuya died from a heart attack. Oddly however, he was strangled with a rope after he died. There were no drugs found in his system. He was immobilized in the same way that Eri Kinosaki(城崎 愛梨) had been immobilized. At the time of his death, he had his driver's license, wallet, home keys, car keys, handkerchief, and a cellphone with him.
Tokiko Hatayama(畑山 富貴子) - Tetsuya's mother.
Junichirō Hatayama(畑山 純一郎) - Head of the Hatayama Zaibatsu and Tetsuya's father. He is well-respected in the business world for his management philosophies. His business includes renting buildings, developing resorts, and managing a restaurant chain. He has three sons, two with his first wife, and the youngest, Tetsuya, with his current wife, Tokiko. Even though he got a call from the kidnapper at night,he waited until the morning to call the police.
Shigeo Muramatsu(村松 繁雄) - Prosecutor.
Kōken Onoda(小野田 公顕) - The Superintendent Supervisor drops by Hana No Sato to talk to the Tokumeigakari pair about this case.

Keiko Ayase(綾瀬圭子), a popular newscaster is murdered, and her dying screams are broadcast live during the weather segment of the morning news for the Central TV Station. Who murdered Keiko - was it a fan who sneaked into the station while making a restaurant delivery? Perhaps it was the manager of the station's announcers who wasn't happy that Keiko was possibly involved in a romantic relations with her husband. Inspector Ukyō uncovers the surprising suspect and the shocking reason behind Keiko's murder.
Characters appearing/mentioned in the story
Rika Yaginuma(八木沼 リカ) - Rookie newscaster(weather woman) for the Central TV Station. After Rika started working at the station an year ago, Keiko became Rika's mentor, giving advice on many things. For example, Keiko helped Rika correct her use of the honorific(敬語 keigo).
Kame(カメ Kame, the bigger one) and Leon(レオン Reon, the smaller one) - Rika's pet chameleons
Mayumi Nishina(仁科 真由美) - Manager of the announcers at the station. She was an idol announcer during the 80's. Her husband is the station's deputy(編成局次長 hensei-kyoku jichō). He was rumored to be carrying on an affair with Keiko Ayase(綾瀬 圭子) at one time. Because of this, Mrs. Nishina had tried to have Keiko Ayase(綾瀬 圭子) moved to a different division repeatedly but couldn't since Keiko was the top announcer at the station. She claims that she was in the VTR editing room at the time Keiko was murdered, but she was alone and hence has no alibi.
Keiko Ayase(綾瀬 圭子) - Rika's 27 year old sempai and the announcer for News Stallion(ニューススタリオン Nyūsusutarion), She died shortly after being stabbed in the station's nap room.
The people working at the station reveal that someone was stalking Keiko, sending her a letter every day, commenting on every scene she appeared in. The stalker eventually sent a letter stating that if he can't have her, he will kill her. Then these letters suddenly stopped arriving about an year ago, and everyone had assumed that the stalker just decided to stop.
She was stabbed to death with a paring knife(果物ナイフ kudamono naifu), and her dying screams and broadcast live on Rika's morning weather show. Apparently, the killer knew that Keiko was always in that nap room at that time.
Going back to the nap room, Inspector Ukyō reasons as follows:
The nap room locks itself from the inside, so Keiko must have opened the door for the killer. Keiko must have known her attacker, since, even though Keiko was very near-sighted, she left her glasses and didn't wear contacts when she opened the nap room door.
Oddly, she had left the nap room window open even though it was the coldest day of the year, which would risk her valuable announcer's voice. Her fingerprints were not recovered near the nap room window. Hence, the killer must have open the nap room window for some reason after killing Keiko.
Hiroyuki Hotta(堀田 弘之) - Delivery man for Attsu Atsu Bentō(あっつあつ弁当), He dropped by the station to deliver lunch to the Second Production Department(制作二部 Seisaku Nibu). However, Sergeant Kaoru found him hiding near a vending machine. Hiroyuki tried to run away but was caught. He admits that he was sneaking around the station hoping to catch a glimpse of Mikiti(ミキティ).
Kanzaki(神崎) - Director who was with Rika when they heard Keiko's dying screams.
Yokoyama(横山) - Announcer for Sports Eleven(Supōtsuirebun スポーツイレブン), a show at the Central Broadcasting System TV Station.
Letter from the stalker
Kon'nani aishite irunoni(こんなに愛しているのに)
Even though I love you so much
Te ni hairanai nonara,(手に入らないのなら、)
If I can't have you
Isso kono-te de koroshiteyaru.(いっそこの手で殺してやる。)
I'll kill you with my own hands.
Trivia

Some of the programs mentioned here aired three to four years ago and had already stopped broadcasting.

Aibou TV Season 4 Episode 9 - Miscarriage of Justice(冤罪)
Subtitle: Miscarriage of Justice(冤罪)
Yukari Shinomiya(篠宮 ゆかり) uses a huge glass ashtray to kill Yukio Aoki(青木 由紀男). Two hours later, Yukari walks up to a police station carrying the bloodied ashtray and confesses to the murder. Next morning, Etsuko Murozono(室園 悦子), a lawyer, shows up to take up Yukari's defense. It turns out that Etsuko, a police lieutenant at the station, and Yukari were all involved in another murder case from twenty years ago. Why did Yukari murder the Yukio, and how is this case related to the murder from twenty years ago?
Characters appearing/mentioned in the story
Yukari Shinomiya(篠宮 ゆかり) - She killed Yukio, her former husband, using a large ashtray from his room with a single blow to the head. She then wandered aimlessly for approximately two hours before turning herself in at Midorikawa Station(緑川署). She claims that she killed him after they got into an argument over money she lent to Yukio two years ago.
Both she and her former husband live in Asagaya(阿佐ヶ谷).
Etsuko Murozono(室園 悦子) - She is a lawyer who used to work at the Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office(東京地検 Tōkyō chiken) and was the prosecutor when Akira Shinomiya(篠宮 彬) went to trial for murder. Now, she is a lawyer working from her own office, Etsuko Murozono Law Firm(室園悦子 法律事務所 Murozono Etsuko Hōritsu Jimusho).
She takes Yukari's case the morning after Yukari turned herself in, even before Yukari was indicted. Yukari had visited Etsuko's law office a few days earlier wanting to know if there was a way for her to get back the money she had lent to Yukio.
Anjō Yūji(安城 雄二) - Police lieutenant at Midorikawa Station(緑川署). He interrogated Yukari Shinomiya(篠宮 ゆかり) after she turned herself in, and now is in charge of this case. Twenty years ago, he also interrogated Yukari's brother Akira Shinomiya(篠宮 彬) for the murder of Yūsuke Kaneko(金子 祐介).
Makoto Sonezaki(曽根崎 真) - Prosecutor in charge of the case against Yukari Shinomiya(篠宮 ゆかり).
Yukio Aoki(青木 由紀男) - Yukari's former husband. He borrowed money from her two years ago, but for the last half year, he had trouble making payments on the loan. Even after the separation, they both lived in Asagaya(阿佐ヶ谷), and he continued to live in the same apartment for the past ten years and three months. The two got into an argument over money at his apartment, and Yukari killed him with a large ash tray. According to Yukari, he was a heavy smoker, and she used the ashtray Yukio kept in his apartment.
Inspector Ukyō later discovers a wallet with Yukio, Yūsuke Kaneko(金子 祐介), and Etsuko Murozono(室園 悦子)'s fingerprints hidden under a tatami in Yukio's apartment.
Akira Shinomiya(篠宮 彬) - Yukari's elder brother who was convicted of killing of Yūsuke Kaneko(金子 祐介) twenty years ago. He was eating at the same tavern where Yūsuke Kaneko(金子 祐介) was celebrating and showing off his winnings from a horse racing bet. He left the tavern shortly after Yūsuke left. According to the police, Akira tried to steal Kaneko's wallet when he saw Kaneko passed out on the sidewalk. Kaneko woke up and they got into a fight. Akira states that he beat Kaneko on the head with a concrete block, killing Kaneko.
There were numerous circumstantial evidence against him. Akira was a regular the same race track where Kaneko won his bet. The morning after Kaneko's murder, Akira paid back the two hundred thousand yen(20万円) he had borrowed from his sister Yukari. He initially claimed that he found the money lying on the street and picked it up the night before. Akira had been arrested before for causing injury. Eventually, the police got a confession from him.
Yūsuke Kaneko(金子 祐介) - Murder victim twenty years ago in the Kyotei Street Robbery and Murder Case(競艇通り強盗殺人事件 Kyōtei-dōri gōtō satsujin jiken). On the fateful day, he won big on a horse race, and he dropped by a tavern to celebrate on the way back home. He showed off two hundred thousand yen(20万円) in cash while paying the bills at the restaurant. After leaving the restaurant, Kaneko was so drunk that he fell asleep in the middle of the sidewalk, where he was later killed.
Kōken Onoda(小野田 公顕) - Inspector Ukyō pleads with Superintendent Supervisor Onoda to give them a chance to talk to Anjō Yūji(安城 雄二), stating that the inspector believes that Etsuko Murozono(室園 悦子) and Anjō Yūji(安城 雄二) may have been involved with Yukio's murder. The Superintendent Supervisor ignores the inspector's pleas and chooses not to interfere, assuming that the Tokumeigakari pair is the source of the commotion in this case and silencing them with put an end to the mess.

Aibou TV Season 4 Episode 7 - Ripple(波紋)
Subtitle: Ripple(波紋)
Shuntarō Ikeda(池田 俊太郎), a college student, turns in six million yen(六百万円 roppyaku man'en) to the police, saying that it was thrown into his mailbox. Saying that they want their money back if Shuntarō doesn't want it, many people drop by the police box to have "their money" returned, but not one of them turns out to be the real owner. Over the course of the episode, two people are murdered over the money. Who's money is it, and who is responsible for the murders?
Characters appearing/mentioned in the story
Shuntarō Ikeda(池田 俊太郎) - A psychology student at Futaba University(双葉大学) who turned in 6 million yen to the police, saying it was thrown into his mailbox. Shuntarō was born on June 28, 1984(昭和59年6月28日 Shōwa 59-nen 6 tsuki 28-nichi). He is a studious student, but perhaps a bit too fastidious, and doesn't have too many friends. He works part-time at a local convenience store.
His good deeds ends up getting him involved in more trouble than he asked for.He first is hounded by the media who is desperate to find out more about this good-hearted college student. Even though the police did not name him nor release his address, the magazine Weekly Rumor(週刊流言 Shūkan Ryūgen) somehow track him down and release his private name in an article somewhat sarcastically titled "Admirable! Honest College Student Who Turned in Six Million Yen(アッパレ! 六百万円を届け出た 正直者大学生 Appare! Roppyaku man-en Wo Todokedeta Shōjiki-sha daigakusei)."
Minoru Furuya(古谷 稔) uses the information to track down Shuntarō. Furuya threatens and beats up Shuntarō, demanding Shuntarō to get the money back, mistakenly believing that the money was somehow stolen from him. Shortly after this incident, the Tokumeigakari pair happen to walk by and get him to a hospital.Later at school, some fellow student asks Shuntarō to invite them to a drinking party after the money comes back to him in six months.
A witness saw Shuntarō near Taeko Kaji(梶 多恵子)'s residence the night she was murdered.
His graduation thesis is "Public Reaction to a Large Amount of money(高額の金銭に対する大衆の反応 Kōgaku no kinsen ni taisuru taishū no han'nō)," his conclusion being "People will always come flocking to a large sum of money if it could be earned without difficulty." Aibou TV Season 4 Episode 6 - Murderous Heater(殺人ヒーター)
Subtitle: Murderous Heater(殺人ヒーター)
An arsonist is responsible for a series of fires using electric heaters, three that turned out to be fatal. The Sōichi capture a suspect who set fire to buildings owned by companies that rejected his job application, but he only took responsibility for the first, the third, and the fifth arson cases. Inspector Ukyō notices that the same model of heater was used in all the fires that had fatalities. Is this a coincidence?
Characters appearing/mentioned in the story
Shōichi Uzuki(卯月 庄一) - President of Yotsuba Electric(ヨツバ電気). He recommended the o miai(お見合い), a marriage meeting to Kiriko Koyanatsu(小柳津 桐子).
Kenjirō Oki(沖 健次郎) - Manager of Yotsuba Electric(ヨツバ電気)'s productions. He is also the warehouse manager.
Yoshio Onda(恩田 義男) - Product inspection manager(検品課長 kenpin kachō) for Yotsuba Electric(ヨツバ電気), He was the manager of product design (設計部長 sekkei buchō) until last year but was demoted because of Kiriko Koyanatsu(小柳津 桐子). A washing machine he designed had a function called "Baikinburokku(バイキンブロック, Germs block)" which could clean the wash tub with a push of a button. Before the units shipped, it was discovered that the function wasn't working when the washing machine's timer was used. The defect could be solved by replacing the foundation of the machine, but Kiriko Koyanatsu(小柳津 桐子) insisted that the entire product be reevaluated in the light of the defect. The problem was that the inspection process would stop production. Since advertisements and business plans were already made, a full reevaluation meant billions of yen in losses. After she threatened to reveal the design defect to a trade newspaper, the full inspection was carried out. Yoshio was forced to take full responsibility for the company losses and was demoted.
Mr. Onda also designed the world's first rechargeable cordless heater which won many industry awards. It is powerful enough to heat an area the size of hachi-jō(八畳), an area covered by eight tatamis. That cordless heater, however, was the source of fire at the three arson cases where there were fatalities. In the first two of those cases, the heater was stored in a warehouse.
Kiriko Koyanatsu(小柳津 桐子) - She was a 42 year old single customer service employee and union president from Sapporo, Hokkaidō who died by suffocation in the fire at Yotsuba Electric(ヨツバ電気). A fire extinguisher was discovered close to her body, placed there as if she or someone expected a fire to start. She had stayed late at work recently and went home using the services of a different taxi company each night.
She nominated herself to become the union president. She became an active president who had a strong sense of justice. However, the company only wanted her to negotiate with employees, and her constant complaints about company products made many powerful enemies in the company. There even was an unflattering quote repeated often throughout the company: Koyanatsu wa yana yatsu(小柳津はやなやつ) - "Koyanatsu is an ass monkey." For some odd reason however, she recently agreed to and attended an o miai(お見合い), a marriage meeting suggested and arranged by President Shōichi Uzuki(卯月庄一).
Hitoshi Asano(浅野仁志) - Koyanatsu's kouhai at Yotsuba Electric(ヨツバ電気). He says he didn't visit Kiriko the night she died. He also tells the Tokumeigakari pair that Kirko planned to take the Prince Cab back home the night she died.
Shigeru Kawakami(河上茂) - Employee and union officer at Yotsuba Electric(ヨツバ電気). He says he didn't visit Kiriko the night she died.
Hideaki Kurokawa(黒川 英明) - Serial arsonist who torched companies that rejected his job applications. The Sōichi capture him when he breaks into MSS Kaikei jimusho(MSS会計事務所) one night to start a fire using an electric heater and paper there. Even though he got a perfect score on the written portion, the interview went badly. He admits his crimes, although he claims he was responsible only for the first, third, and the fifth arson cases. He graduated from an elite university and is a first class bookkeeper.
