 On 12/28/2007, the Tokumeigakari pair and the Sōichi are called to the scene where a man's body was discovered. It turns out to be a false alarm as the man had frozen to death. On the way back, the Sōichi notice Masahiko Niita(新井田 政彦), a wanted member of the terrorist organization Red Canary, get into a cab. They follow Niita to an amusement park and try to apprehend him but fail, and worse, disrupt the Kōan operation designed to apprehend Niita and his contact. The contact is Hajime Tsukahara(塚原 肇), a member of the cleaning staff at the amusement park who also makes bombs in his spare time. Because someone took the money Niita left behind at the drop off spot, Tsukahara decides not to hand over the bomb. They get into a scuffle, and the bomb accidentally activates, and the resulting explosion kills Niita while Tsukahara is severely injured. As punishment for the mess they caused, the Sōichi trio are ordered to help General Inspector Ōkōchi's enter data they just received from the Kōan into the police database.

Meanwhile, the Hokkaido police asks that Shōgo Nemoto(根元 尚吾), the man who stole the payment money thinking it was trash. be escorted back to Hokkaido because he is an important witness scheduled to testify for the police in an ongoing trial. Superintendent Uchimura orders the Tokumeigakari pair to escort Nemoto back to Hokkaido. Since it is holiday season, they have a hard time getting tickets to Hokkaido, and they end up getting on the luxurious overnight express train Cassiopeia, staying in room 4 car 2. The fun in this trip is cut short, as one of the passengers staying in a room near the Tokumeigakari pair is stabbed to death shortly after the train leaves the station. Can they uncover the killer before the train reaches Sapporo? More surprises await the Tokumeigakari pair in Hokkaido: Nemoto and two other passengers who travelled with them were hiding dark secrets of their own.

"The End" by "The Doors" is used near the end of this episode.

Characters appearing/mentioned in the story

Kimie Dōgami(堂上 公江) - Passenger staying in room three of car two. She is a translator who lost her husband on January second, 33 years ago, which also happens to be her birthday. The couple loved to travel together. She claims that she was in London two years ago, and she is taking the Cassiopeia to stay at the Toya Park Hotel.

She claims that her feet hurt when she stays in the same position for a long time as a result of injuries she sustained years ago.

She says that she was sleeping in her compartment when the club manager was killed.

Shōgo Nemoto(根元 尚吾) - The 19 year old man being escorted to Hokkaido as a material witness escorted by the Tokumeigakari pair. He grabbed the money Masahiko Niita left behind at the drop site thinking it was trash. He does not have any previous arrest record. He is the owner of the cafe Yuki No Hana(雪の花).

He is on edge the entire trip to Hokkaido. He tries to escape in Hakodate, but is discovered by Sergeant Kaoru. Shortly after arriving in Hokkaido, he disappears from the Hokkaido Police Station.

Yukimi Nemoto(根元 雪美) - Shōgo's wife. She is the manager of the cafe Yuki No Hana(雪の花).

Daichi Nemoto(根元 大地) - Shōgo and Yukimi's son.

Chikahiro Nakase(仲瀬 親洋) - 58 year old hotel king who has a distinctive scar on his left hand. He used to be a bureaucrat for the International Trade and Industry then later started managing hotels. He is the head of Nakase Development(仲瀬開発 Nakase Kaihatsu)

Reiji Andō(安藤 礼治) - Passenger staying in room one of car one and Hiroki's father. He is the professor of education at Keitoku University(慶徳大学 Keitoku Daigaku), He claims that he was sleeping at the time of the murder.

Hiroki Andō(安藤 博貴) - Passenger staying in room one of car one. He is a drug user who dropped out of high school. He claims that he was sleeping at the time of the murder.

Ninako Andō(安藤 仁奈子) - Passenger staying in room one of car one and Hiroki's mother. She claims that she was sleeping at the time of the murder.

Yūzō Hosaka(保坂 有三) - Passenger from Hokkaido staying in room three of car one. He claims that he is a part time worker and a train mania, but his real name is Fujii(藤井) and holds the rank of senior policeman(巡査長 junsa-chō). He claims that he was sleeping at the time of the murder.

Liner Miki(三樹 ライナ) - Passenger staying in room two of car two. She is an actress and a popular model. She claims that she passed by Tsushima's room because she was checking out a noise that scared her friend Orihara.

Kuniko Orihara(折原 国子) - Passenger staying in room two of car two. Liner's friend.

Ryōya Hatori(羽鳥 亮矢) - Passenger staying in room four of car one. Famous actor who got on the Cassiopeia as Etusrō's unemployed younger brother using the pseudonym Jirō Masuda(増田 次朗). He swept the newcomer's movie actor awards. He claims that he was in the empty room with Miki at the time of the murder.

Etusrō Masuda(増田 悦郎) - Hatori's manager staying in room four of car one with Hatori. He claims that they were both awake but in the room at the time of the murder.

Satoru Tsushima(津島 悟) - Manager of Nishi Azabu Club(西麻布クラブ) and drug dealer who lives in Ibaraki Prefecture(茨城県), Mito City, (Mito-shi 水戸市) Akatsuka(赤塚 Akatsuka). Between 11:30 PM and 12:00 AM, he is killed in his compartment from a single stab wound to the left chest with his own knife. A piece of skin was lodged in his fingernails. His notebook was also missing.

Tadokoro(田所) - A member of the Hokkaido police's organized Crime Control Division(組織犯罪対策課 soshiki hanzai taisakuka) who greeted the Tokumeigakari pair in Hokkaido and led them to the Hokkaido Police Headquarters.

Masahiko Niita(新井田 政彦) - 42 year old wanted terrorist the Sōichi spotted, followed, then attempted but failed to apprehend. He was a member of the Red Canary terrorist group who tried to purchase a bomb at an amusement park. Things go wrong however, and he dies when the bomb accidentally explodes.

Hajime Tsukahara(塚原 肇) - Bomb mania and manufacturer, cleaning staff at a amusement park. He is admitted to the Kasuga Police Hospital(春日警察病院 Kasuga Keisatsu Byōin) after he is injured when one of his bombs accidentally explodes after a transaction with Masahiko Niita(新井田 政彦) goes horribly wrong.

Hiroshi Fujitaka(藤北 寛) - Dōgami's lover 33 years ago. He was an engineering student at Teito University of Science(帝都理科大学 Teito Rika Daigaku) who died when a bomb he was making prematurely exploded.

Enomoto(榎本) - Hokkaido railway police who came on to the Cassiopeia Express at Hakodate(函館) to take Satoru Tsushima(津島 悟)'s killer into custody.

Yajima(八島) - Leader of the Hokuyoukai(北洋会 Hokuyō-kai) gang. He caught Shōgo Nemoto(根元 尚吾) peeking at the group's secret gun deal with a foreign gang. He was about to shoot Nemoto when he was apprehended by the police.

Hirokazu Kunieda(国枝 弘和) - A conductor on the Cassiopeia Express, He gives the Tokumeigakari pair the room assignments of the passengers staying in car one.

Mio Meguro(目黒 美音) - A conductor on the Cassiopeia Express

Katobori(かとぼり) - A member of Hokkaido's Organized Crime Control Division(組織犯罪対策課 soushiki hanzai taisakuka).

Haruki Ōkōchi(大河内 春樹) - General Inspector Ōkōchi is investigating the bomb made by Hajime Tsukahara(塚原 肇). In this episode, he is assisted by the reluctant Sōichi trio.

Wakamatsu(若松) - Section manager of the Public Safety Division (公安 Kōan). General Inspector Ōkōchi calls him and reports to him about the possibility that another bomb was traded the same day Niita tried to purchase a bomb.

Kōken Onoda(小野田 公顕) - Superintendent supervisor Onoda appears at the end of the episode to give Inspector Ukyō access to items collected from the scene of the bomb accident 33 years ago. In return he asks Inspector Ukyō to bring back a hair crab.
