Subtitle: Tokumeigakari Resurrected(特命係復活)
This is the second half of the two-part episode. Even though the Tokumeigakari pair seemed to have Hitomi Kogure cornered, she found a way to turn the tables and put the Tokumeigakari pair on the defense.
General Inspector Haruki Ōkōchi(大河内 春樹) places the Tokumeigakari pair under house arrest for two reasons. One, they investigated a case even when they were off duty/off work and also while being assigned to non-investigative duties. Two, as a result of that investigation, they caused a major blunder - the suspect Hitomi tried to commit suicide while they were nearby.
After leaving the hearing, Inspector Ukyō tells Sergeant Kaoru that although the inspector is usually a peaceful man, he will fight back if someone else throws a punch first and win that fight.
Hitomi Kogure(小暮 ひとみ) goes back to prison to report all this to Asakura. During the conversation, he states that after talking to her, he wants to take back control of his life again, even though he is on death row.
Even though they're supposed to be under house arrest, the Tokumeigakari pair visits Hitomi again, offering her marigolds as a peace offering. Hitomi is not pleased - marigolds means "thwart evil" in flower talk - she throws the flowers away.
Back at Hana No Sato, Miwako reports what she found out about Hitomi's family. Hitomi's mother died from subarachnoid hemorrhaging in 1995 when Hitomi was a high school student. Her neighbors told her that they were a loving family, and Hitomi's father really loved Hitomi's mother.
Hearing this, Inspector Ukyō wonders why there are no pictures of Hitomi's mother in her mansion. Ms. Tamaki suggests maybe, Hitomi has Electra complex. Now that her mother is dead, Hitomi decorates her mansion with pictures of her father and herself only. Sergeant Kaoru confirms this - all three men who were in a relationship with Hitomi and whom she poisoned were around the same age as her father.
A short time later, Hitomi has dinner with Superintendent Supervisor Onoda. Apparently she has taken up his offer from Sagawa's funeral. Hitomi wants Onoda to take care of the Tokumeigakari. Onoda promises to banish them an isolated part of the police department.
Soon afterwards, the Tokumeigakari pair visits Hitomi at her mansion again. This time, they brought cakes for her since they "accidentally" offended her with marigolds their last visit.
She secretly calls the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department after telling the Tokumeigakari pair that she's going to change and promising that she won't drink poison this time around.
While the Sōichi head to Hitomi's mansion, Inspector Ukyō asks Hitomi about her mother's grave. Weeds had grown around the grave - no one had apparently visited it in ages. She also was buried by herself, not close to any of her relatives.
They then ask her why none of the pictures in the mansion were her mother's pictures and whether Hitomi got along with her mother.
Just then, the Sōichi arrive, and as before, Hitomi lies and tells them that the Tokumeigakari forced their way in and wouldn't leave. Lieutenant Miura says that the Tokumeigakari pair could be charged with breaking and entering.
Back at the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, Superintendent Uchimura is furious. He accuses the Tokumeigakari pair of interfering with the ongoing murder investigation while they were under house arrest. The superintendent says that he will report this incident to the inspector general's office. The inspector general's office members are of course, thinking about firing the Tokumeigakari pair as a result of their actions.
Inspector Ukyō tells Sergeant Kaoru that they can't go back now, and so they continue to investigate. Sergeant Kaoru begs Superintendent Kakuta's help. Superintendent Kakuta refuses at first since the sergeant didn't help him after he was caught not wearing a seat belt, but Sergeant Kaoru somehow manages to convince Kakuta to dig up Hitomi's father's travel records. The sergeant finds something interesting - Keisuke's travel records stop after September 5, 1998 when he came back from Brazil. This is odd since Hitomi told the Tokumeigakari pair that her father had left Japan to go on a trip.
Inspector Ukyō also found out something interesting. Tōa Pharmaceutical University(東亜薬科大学) had listed Keisuke as retired. According to the university representative, Hitomi had said that Keisuke never returned from Brazil, and as a result, the university was forced to declare that Keisuke had retired. The university never filed a missing persons report because Hitomi told them that she will take care of it.
As the final pieces of the puzzle falls into place, can the Tokumeigakari finally uncover the truths behind the murders and Kogure's father's disappearance before they are forced out of the police force?
At the end of the episode, Superintendent Supervisor Onoda resurrects the Tokumei department.
Afterwards, Lawyer Hitomi reports to the Tokumeigakari pair that Asakura escaped once again, apparently jumping to his death from a cliff into the ocean. Prison officer Saitō(斉藤) was found dead, apparently killed by Asakura as he escaped.
Asakura's shoes and clothes are found next to a cliff. There is a note under his shoes - "My life is my own. I intend to do as I want. Farewell." Someone saw him jump off the cliff into the ocean below. Sergeant Kaoru believes that Asakura committed suicide, but his body can't be located.
This is the first of many times where we see a hint of supernatural element in the story.
